Let's PLAY BALL

Hi JAYBA & J-Hawk Families,

Wow, the season is here and whether we are ready or not, the games are about to start, or have started. I wanted to take a couple of minutes to send out a few reminders.

1. Have Fun - The goal is to have fun and to help the kids learn and grow to their next stage. Some kids will go on and play ball for many years, some will not. Please always try to support and encourage the kids and most importantly, HAVE FUN. Kids that have fun keep playing baseball, kids that don't stop. Simple as that.

2. Attitude and Effort - Please come prepared for each game with a good attitude. No matter what level your team is, how good they are, or how good the opponent may be, please always have a good attitude. Attitude and Effort control everything. Parents - please set a good example for the kids.

3. Conduct - Coaches and Parents are never to swear and yell at officials. These officials are paid to work the game, not to listen to coaches and parents yell at them for calls. If your parents are acting out, please correct this behavior. If you as a Coach are upset about a call, please do not lose your temper and yell at the umpire. They are likely a child, they are new at umpiring, and they are doing their best. Our league does not take this lightly. We expect the highest level of respect for all of our officials. Please report any conduct issues directly to me.

Uniforms are in and if you haven't picked them up, they are likely in the garage. Your coach should be picking them up ASAP. Please let me know if you have any trouble.

Raffle tickets are ready for pickup at the concession stand. Please sell the tickets and turn your stubs in at the concession stand as soon as possible. The drawing will be at the JAYBA Party on July 23rd.

Please let me know if you have any questions. It has been a lot of work getting the league up and running this year. We, as a Board, are doing our best and want to see the season go well. Please let me know if you have any concerns or questions.

Thank you,

Greg

Field help needed

Hey JAYBA and J-Hawk Families,

Good afternoon. I hope everyone is staying dry. I am going to head up to the fields now and see how they look, likely things will get canceled for tonight. Stay tuned.

Also, we could use some help. We need help chalking the baseball fields prior to the games this week. We are looking to hire a person that is able to do this on a regular basis, but until we get that person in place and trained, we are going to be on our own. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know. If you are interested in interviewing for this role, I would love to hear from you.

Here is a quick job description:

Schedule is Mon - Thursday (we have two tournaments, they are June 2-4 & June 9-11)

Hours are 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm (starting immediately)

Tasks include:

Move bases to correct length, drag fields, chalk the diamonds, and paint the foul lines.

No experience needed, training will be provided. $15 per hour.

I look forward to hearing from you about the position.

Thank you,

Greg

League Updates

Hey Parents,

Good morning. I hope everyone is doing well. I wanted to send out a quick update. As we start getting practices going, I wanted to send out some general information for everyone.

Rules - I am working on an updated version for 2023, however, the 2022 rules are posted under "Documents" on the home page.

Fields - We are having some field work done to maintain the fields. The bases are all be measured and anchors and plugs will be installed. We are having the edges cleaned up and the fields leveled. We are also installing a permanent mound on Field 2. If you use the fields outside of practices, please rake in the batters boxes after you use them to prevent water pooling. Also, there are electrical boxes on field 3 and 4. Do not burry the boxes.

Uniforms - We are working on uniforms now, we should have them before the season starts.

Concessions - we will have concessions starting in May. May 1, 3, 18, 23, 25, 30, & 31st. We will open regularly starting in June.

Raffle Tickets - Once the stand is open, the raffle tickets will be available for pickup at the concession stand.

Doors - Please make sure all doors are closed when you leave the grounds, this will keep our gear locked up.

I think that is it for now. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Greg
